A Therapeutic Day Centre so older adults in Kamloops can age in place with dignity, purpose and connection.

Elder Bloom Wellness Society is building a community-based day program grounded in recreation therapy—offering meaningful day programming, meals, accessible transportation, and caregiver respite.

Community-based day programs are limited, and many older adults and caregivers are left without consistent, accessible support. Elder Bloom is working to close that gap in Kamloops.

About

WELLNESS SOCIETY

Because isolation and caregiver burnout shouldn’t be the cost of aging.

Why Elder Bloom Exists

Many older adults experience increasing isolation, reduced mobility, and limited access to meaningful daily engagement. At the same time, caregivers often carry significant responsibility without consistent opportunities for rest and support.

Elder Bloom Wellness Society is working to change this.

We are building a therapeutic day centre where older adults can participate in meaningful activities, build relationships, and maintain a sense of purpose—while caregivers gain reliable, dignified respite.

Why This Matters

Older adults in our community are facing increasing isolation, reduced access to programs, and barriers related to transportation and health. At the same time, caregivers are providing significant support with limited opportunities for rest.

Elder Bloom Wellness Society is working to build a practical, community-based solution that supports both individuals and caregivers through accessible, structured day programming.

Grounded in recreation therapy. Built for community.

Elder Bloom’s program model is grounded in recreation therapy principles, supporting individuals through meaningful engagement rather than passive care.

Our approach focuses on participation, autonomy, and connection—creating opportunities for individuals to maintain identity, build relationships, and experience a sense of purpose in their daily lives.

Programs will be inclusive and adaptable, meeting individuals where they are while supporting overall well-being in a safe and welcoming environment.
